My arms wrap tighter around you as I feel your breath growing louder. I inhale sharply to draw your mind to my breathing and slowly exhale. Again. Again. I try not to imagine the racing thoughts in your head or the panic in your body. From the outside, you appear to be suffocating. It Is easier to breath when you are not doing it alone. As panic disappears from your eyes, I feel the anxious energy fade a way.
I used to feel helpless in moments like these. Desperately looking for an easy out, a band-aid. It’s hard to fix something when you don’t know where it’s broken.
